AFC Ajax, or Amsterdamsche Football Club Ajax, is a professional football club from Amsterdam, Netherlands, founded way back in 1900 by Floris Stempel, Carel Reeser, and the brothers Han and Johan Dade. With PSV and Feyenoord, AFC Ajax has dominated Eredivisie, the Dutch National League. It was one of the five teams that earned the right to keep the European Cup and wear the badge of honour, after winning it consecutively in 1971-73. It was in 1973 that AFC reached the pinnacle of glory by winning The Treble, the Dutch Eredivisie, KNVB Cup, and the European Cup. It has won all the major European cups as well, European Cup, European Cup Winner™s Cup and the UEFA Cup.
